Passion . . . Dreams . . . Action . . . Fusion
Dance has always been my passion, my first love, and in the beginning, there was tap.
For a while now, I've been toying with the idea of a tap festival. For years I wondered why the Dallas area didn't have a festival. I finally realized that if you want something, stop wishing for it and do something about it! So I took a leap and began this amazing journey of bringing the best of tap dancing to the feet of Dallas!
I feel so very strongly about bringing our tap community together, growing in abilities and number, and fusing rhythms, tap dance, and music with as many styles, techniques and ideas as possible. I want to expand what we traditionally think of as tap dance and to keep it growing, fresh and relevant, while still preserving and honoring the traditions of the legends and creators of our art. And what better way to celebrate this indigenous American art form, with roots in African American culture and dance, than with a festival on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. Fusion, it's a beautiful thing.
So RIFF is my baby…Rhythm In Fusion Festival. My goal is to bring master tap teachers from around the globe to our area. My dream is for our tappers in the community to have this amazing new opportunity. My goal…infusing the world with rhythm, one tap dancer at a time.
Infusing the world with rhythm…one tapper at a time.
